Personal assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a young boy living in the Tonyrefail area with my family; I have Autism which can cause me some difficulties. I can communicate but I can be unclear at times however the more you get to know me the more you will be able to understand me.  I have no road sense my Personal Assistant would have to make sure I am safe. I also have certain triggers which upset me, the main one being babies crying. I have a good sense of humour and enjoying chatting to people I know well. I am looking for a Personal Assistant to spend time with me, which can include doing activities at home or in the community such as going to the local park, McDonalds, bowling, cinema etc.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To Escort me into the local community and encourage me to participate in social activities, or occupy me at home with games, films etc.

HOURS OF WORK

3 hours pw term time, 6 hours non – term time

RATES OF PAY

£9.50 per hour

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

  • Taking me to interesting places
  • Discovering fun new activities for me to do
  • Ensuring my safety at all times
  • Using your own car to take me places
  • Accompanying me out for walks

 

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

  • Experience working with people with Autism preferred but not essential
  • Someone who is chatty, friendly, calming and also have a strong character for when my behavior is challenging
  • Someone who is flexible and reliable
  • Driver with own vehicle and business class insurance an advantage but not essential.

ABOUT THE JOB

This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid every month on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.  You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
