I have a diagnosis of ASD, which means that I have no sense of danger and am always full of energy. As a result family outings can be difficult to manage for my mum. I love being outdoors, particularly places where I can run free. I also like walking, climbing, playing in/with water, trucks and trains. PURPOSE OF JOB To accompany us on family outings, so that my mum and brother get a chance to relax more and enjoy the activity. PLACE OF WORK Mainly out and about in the community HOURS OF WORK 2 hours weekly or 4 hours fortnightly (depending on the activity of choice). RATE OF PAY £9.00 per hour TASKS INVOLVED Accompanying us on family outings. Watching me closely to ensure I am safe at all times. Helping me to cross roads safely and watching me whilst my mum is paying or queueing. Helping to keep me occupied so that my mum can spend quality time with my brother also. There is a small amount of personal care involved as I am not yet toilet trained. Occasionally, if my mum is unwell, you will take me out on your own. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Experience of dealing with young children with additional needs would be an advantage. Punctual – Turn up on time and must be sure to let us know in advance if running late for any reason. Respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home. Responsible. Trustworthy. Friendly and caring. Patient. ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You may be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
