Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 5 year old boy living in Llanharry with my mum and older brother. I have a diagnosis of ASD, which means that I have no sense of danger and am always full of energy.  As a result family outings can be difficult to manage for my mum.  I love being outdoors, particularly places where I can run free. I also like walking, climbing, playing in/with water, trucks and trains.

PURPOSE OF JOB

To accompany us on family outings, so that my mum and brother get a chance to relax more and enjoy the activity.

PLACE OF WORK

Mainly out and about in the community

HOURS OF WORK

2 hours weekly or 4 hours fortnightly (depending on the activity of choice).

RATE OF PAY

£8.25 per hour

TASKS INVOLVED

  • Accompanying us on family outings.
  • Watching me closely to ensure I am safe at all times.
  • Helping me to cross roads safely and watching me whilst my mum is paying or queueing.
  • Helping to keep me occupied so that my mum can spend quality time with my brother also.
  • There is a small amount of personal care involved as I am not yet toilet trained.
  • Occasionally, if my mum is unwell, you will take me out on your own.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

  • Experience of dealing with young children with additional needs would be an advantage.
  • Punctual – Turn up on time and must be sure to let us know in advance if running late for any reason.
  • Respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home.

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.  You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You may be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
