DPC1590 Personal Assistant to Child Quote ref: DPC1590 on application form Apply now JOB DESCRIPTION Part-Time Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am a 6-year-old boy, living with my family in the Talbot Green area of Rhondda Cynon Taff. I have Autism which means I need some help, support and guidance at home and when I go out and about in the community. I have complex and impulsive behaviours which can cause me harm. I tend to try and bash my head and put things in my mouth which means I need supervising at all times. In spite of my condition, I’m a happy young boy who enjoys playing with my toys and watching television shows. PURPOSE OF THE JOB My mother is looking to employ a Personal Assistant to support her to take me out into the community. This may involve going to the park, to health appointments or to social and leisure activities. You will work on a 2 to 1 basis with either my mother or another Personal Assistant. RATE OF PAY £9.50 per hour Plus Mileage Allowance (when applicable) HOURS OF WORK 7½ hours every week This will involve working during the daytime on a Saturday and Sunday to be mutually arranged. The hours may occasionally involve working a weeknight after school. TASKS CAN INCLUDE Supervising me at all times Making sure I am safe whilst at home and whilst out and about Helping me to get a snack or drink if needed Supporting me to attend appointments and social activities Providing me with companionship TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Any experience of working with children with Autism would be an advantage. Driver with access to own vehicle Someone friendly and approachable, patient and understanding Someone active and assertive Someone with a good knowledge of the local area N.B. You will receive full training and support to deal with my complex behaviours. My Occupational Therapist will give you guidance in how to deal with situations and handle me correctly. ABOUT THE JOB The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check) which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority). The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK before you start work. Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid on a monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay given.
