DPC602 Personal Assistant Quote REF:DPC602 on the application form Apply now JOB DESCRIPTION Part-time Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am a 22 year old young man living in the Llantrisant area with my parents and my little sister. I have cerebral palsy and epilepsy. I am a wheelchair user and need the help of others to get about. I also need a hoist to transfer out of my chair. Although I can’t talk I am able to use sounds and noises to communicate with the people around me. Once we get to know each other you’ll soon be able to understand me. I am usually happy and content, I enjoy listening to music as well as being outside. I like playing with my switch linked toys, and would enjoy trying new activities and games too. I like having company and being read to. PURPOSE OF JOB To offer my family respite from their caring role and to help me get ready for the day. HOURS OF WORK There are 17.5 hours per week available. Mornings – 5 days a week – Monday to Friday - 7.00am – 8.30am Afternoons – 5 days a week – Monday to Friday – 3.15pm – 5.15pm Ideally we are looking for two PAs to share the hours and cover each other’s holidays and sickness, but will also consider one applicant if they are able to cover all 17.5 hours. RATE OF PAY £10.00 per hour TASKS INVOLVED Assist me out of bed in the morning Change into clean clothes Help me to have a wash and brush my teeth Change my incontinence pads Assist me to have my breakfast (Some of the above will require the use of a hoist) Keep my things clean and tidy Ensure my safety Give me my medication TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Someone dependable and reliable Someone punctual Someone patient and sincere Someone flexible – very important Someone willing to learn Someone willing to use a hoist DESIRABLE Someone with caring experience Someone with manual handling training Someone with epilepsy awareness training (Training is not essential as training can be provided for candidates who have not already achieved these courses) ABOUT THE JOB Although this is a part-time job, it will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The salary will be paid on a calendar monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay given. The post is subject to a probationary period and a DBS (Police) Check.
