I have special needs, which include medical issues. I live in the Llwynypia area of Rhondda Cynon Taff, with my mum and dad. I have epilepsy, autistic traits, sensory processing disorder, gastrostomy fed via a pump for 20 hours a day, severe learning disabilities, global development delay and anxiety I rely on my chair when out due to anxiety low muscle tone hypermobility I also sometimes use a walking frame or handling belt outside. Due to my high care needs I am unable to be left alone for any length of time, which means I am totally dependent on others for support and assistance and emergency medical intervention as and when needed.Despite all this I am a happy energetic little girl who likes swimming, playing with my ponies and trains along with being outdoors. I also like to go for rides in the car. Purpose of the Job My mum and dad are looking to employ a personal assistant to provide me with one to one support, which will include personal care, taking me out socially and a sitting service. Pay Rate & Hours of Work £9.75 per hour. There are 7-8 hours available per week. Your working hours will be arranged by agreement each week. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. Tasks Tasks can include Outings to some of my favourite places such as play centres Changing my nappy and clothing when required Occasionally supporting me to bath. I use a hoist for this – training will be given Looking after me in the home Helping to prepare my special food diet Type of Person Required A person who is dependable and arrives on time A person who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in somebody else’s home Good sense of humour, outgoing, energetic and likes to have fun Someone who can respond to me depending on what I am feeling. You need to be calm, sensitive and patient Confident, experienced with working with children with complex needs. Flexibility is very important A driver is essential Someone with Moving and handling experience (training can be provided) Knowledge of Epilepsy Though a part time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance Number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. A DBS disclosure will be required with the costs meet by the employer. Child Protection Training and Manual Handling training are compulsory.
