Trainee - Direct Payments Advisor in Pontypridd

Starting Salary: £20,852 (37 hrs per week)


We are an independent voluntary organisation providing a support service to disabled people.
We are recruiting an additional Trainee Direct Payments Advisor who will join our existing team in our Upper Boat office, near Pontypridd.


There are four increment points on the NJC scale for the Trainee role and it is for the duration of learning the skills and tools of a Direct Payments Advisor. Following successful training, gained experience and a confirmation supervision with the Direct Payments Project Manager, the successful candidate could transition to the role of a trained Direct Payments Advisor. The salary increments for this role starting at £22,571 and may rise through increments to approx. £24,920. The post comes with 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays.


This is an interesting and rewarding post with full training given in all areas. A Direct Payments Advisor works closely with an individual on a one-to-one basis providing advice, information, training & support on using Direct Payments and employing personal assistants. The job involves, meeting individual disabled people referred to the service, report writing, job planning, budget planning & problem-solving.

Advisors will become familiar with community care as it impacts on disabled people and children; will work closely with partners in Social Services; be trained in and understand employment law, Inland Revenue procedures, PAYE, and become well acquainted with community care in general.

The job involves external visits therefore Advisors will need to have access to their own transport.


Successful applicants will have initiative, be highly motivated with excellent standards of written and verbal communication, have good interpersonal skills, be computer literate and able to demonstrate numerical & computational skills, be quick learners in adapting to the work of the team.

You need to be a good team player and be able to work positively with our partners in social services. You must also be able to manage your own case load. Persons appointed will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure.

We have an integrated management committee of disabled people and non-disabled people.
