Apply now JOB DESCRIPTION Female Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am a 48-year-old lady living in the Llantwit Major area with my husband. I have Multiple Sclerosis, a condition that affects my brain and spinal cord and I am a wheelchair user. I am visually impaired with only peripheral vision. I am fun loving with a great sense of humour; I also have a keen interest in gardening and outdoors. PURPOSE OF JOB I would like to employ a personal assistant to support my independence with my day to day living such as, meal preparation, personal care, social activities, shopping and general housework. I would like to find someone I can rely on, with a professional demeanour. PLACE OF WORK In my home in Llantwit Major HOURS OF WORK 10 hours per week – (possible job share) 1 hour Monday afternoon 4:30-5:30pm, 1 hr Tuesday afternoon 4:30-5:30, 2 hours Wednesday morning 9am-11am, 1hr Thursday 4:30- 5:30 1 hr Friday 4:30-5:30pm 2 Hours Saturday 11:30-1:30pm 2 Hours Sunday 3:30-5:30pm RATE OF PAY £9.00 per hour rising to £9.50 upon successful completion of probation TASKS INVOLVED Duties to include (but this list is not exhaustive): Personal care Laundry General daily living tasks (washing up, cleaning, hoovering, ironing, dusting etc.) Meal preparation To help in the garden To be responsible for my safety at all times Some manual handling will be required, and training can be provided if necessary. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Good Communicator A person who is friendly, dependable and punctual. A person with a positive commitment to this kind of work. A person who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone’s home A person who understands the needs of people with disabilities. Outgoing and fun loving An interest in gardening and the outdoors would be advantageous Resilient enough to cope with the sometimes-demanding nature of this role. Experience within the care sector is desirable but not essential ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid 4-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you. Thank you.
