Female Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 48-year-old lady living in the Llantwit Major area with my husband. I have Multiple Sclerosis, a condition that affects my brain and spinal cord and I am a wheelchair user. I am visually impaired with only peripheral vision. I am fun loving with a great sense of humour; I also have a keen interest in gardening and outdoors.

PURPOSE OF JOB

I would like to employ a personal assistant to support my independence with my day to day living such as, meal preparation, personal care, social activities, shopping and general housework. I would like to find someone I can rely on, with a professional demeanour.

PLACE OF WORK

In my home in Llantwit Major

HOURS OF WORK

10 hours per week – (possible job share)

1 hour Monday afternoon 4:30-5:30pm,

1 hr Tuesday afternoon 4:30-5:30,

2 hours Wednesday morning 9am-11am,

1hr Thursday 4:30- 5:30

1 hr Friday 4:30-5:30pm

2 Hours Saturday 11:30-1:30pm

2 Hours Sunday 3:30-5:30pm

RATE OF PAY

£9.00 per hour rising to £9.50 upon successful completion of probation

TASKS INVOLVED

Duties to include (but this list is not exhaustive):

  • Personal care
  • Laundry
  • General daily living tasks (washing up, cleaning, hoovering, ironing, dusting etc.)
  • Meal preparation
  • To help in the garden
  • To be responsible for my safety at all times
  • Some manual handling will be required, and training can be provided if necessary.

  • A person who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone’s home
  • A person who understands the needs of people with disabilities.
  • Outgoing and fun loving
  • An interest in gardening and the outdoors would be advantageous
  • Resilient enough to cope with the sometimes-demanding nature of this role.
  • Experience within the care sector is desirable but not essential

 

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid 4-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.  You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
