I have Beckers Muscular Dystrophy which affects all my muscle groups, I use a power wheelchair for my mobility. I have an adapted van in which I like to travel. I have an amazing job and I have been privileged enough to travel the world and see some amazing places. I have many proud achievements as a senior coach and Performance Manager for some of Wales’ finest Paralympians. I enjoy thinking up recipes and extremely tasty food combinations, unfortunately I can no longer do any physical cooking but I am great on food tasting and tweaking! I eat a very healthy diet, I have a lovely apartment, I collect antiques and my interests are photography and travelling to beautiful places across Europe. I enjoy good banter. PURPOSE OF JOB I am looking for someone to be an integral part of my care team. I have an extensive care package with a very descriptive and specific care plan for my needs. I require detailed personal care which includes washing, toileting, dressing and grooming, hoisting, cooking, housework, ironing, laundry, all to a high standard. Other roles include; taking me out to appointments in my adapted van and the occasional bit of socialising. PLACE OF WORK At present I have approximately 16-20 hours per week which will include a variety of shifts including days, evenings and sleep-in shifts. However, there may be occasions when you will be asked to cover other staffs annual leave, emergency cover due to sickness as and when this occurs. HOURS OF WORK 16-20 hours per week with the occasional cover of annual leave or sickness RATE OF PAY £10.00 per hour on a casual contract basis TASKS INVOLVED Full personal hygiene Toileting - (I use a conveen together with leg bag, night bag system for urine and inco sheet for bowels) Dressing Hoisting Shopping Cooking Housework Laundry & Ironing Driving my wheelchair adapted van TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Experience of care work and manual handling Reliable Trustworthy Good energy level and enthusiastic Someone who will respect my home, belongings and my personal privacy at all times Driver required and must be happy with driving a large wheelchair adapted van with tail lift and clamp down system - (must have a clean driving license with good standard of safe driving) Appropriate dress awareness is required due to the nature of my professional role. (this may differ from sports casual wear to smart casual depending on the event or occasion) Non smoker Female PA required ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You may be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you. Thank you.
