VOG021 Personal Assistant JOB DESCRIPTION Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am a disabled lady living in Barry. I have multiple sclerosis which limits my mobility. I use a wheelchair in and out of my home. I live near my mother who helps out with my day to day life. I am happy and outgoing and love a good chat. I enjoy getting out an about socially, and like to read, watch TV and go out for a coffee. I have a team of carers who enable me to live independently. I prefer to maintain as much control as possible as I’ve always been an independent lady. PURPOSE OF JOB The main purpose of this job is be part of a team to support me to live independently. To help me to shower, undress/dress and get into bed using my hoist. HOURS OF WORK 3.25 hours per week I will require someone who can work flexibly. More hours will be available as I have 4 other personal assistants and you will be required to cover for absences and annual leave. The times of work can be agreed between us if you are successful in your application. RATE OF PAY £ 9.30 per hour weekdays £9.70 per hour weekends TASKS CAN INCLUDE Helping me to access the shower using a shower chair. Transferring from bed to shower chair Washing my hair for me three times a week. Helping me to dress for bed Teatime is to assist me with feeding/drinking Transferring me from my wheelchair into my bed using my overhead tracking hoist Any other duties mutually agreed on. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED A person who respects and understands the importance of my privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home. A person with a friendly, easy-going manner Someone who will be able to support me but not take over Able to work to instruction Someone trustworthy, reliable and punctual Someone with a caring and responsible attitude Someone with training on using a hoist would be preferred but training can be given. A person who is willing to undertake any training identified as relating to the post e.g. Moving and Handling.
