Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a man living at home in Barry Island. I have multiple sclerosis and use a wheelchair also I wear a back brace. I am also partially sighted. I am looking to employ a PA to enable me to continue to live independently. I have many hobbies and interests and like to keep my brain active! I really enjoy general knowledge quizzes and have an interest in history and rock music. I like good conversation, listening to the radio, books, films and animals. I have two little gerbils. I enjoy board games & card games and I do sometimes use a computer.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The purpose of the job is to provide me with daily support to help me maintain my independence.

HOURS OF WORK

I need a PA each evening at approximately 9pm for 30 minutes. I am also looking for a PA who can work on weekend mornings from 9am for 2 hours per day.

RATES OF PAY

£9.00 per hour

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

Weekend morning

Assistance round the house with dishes

  • Some cooking
  • Assistance with dressing/washing
  • Assistance to get out of bed
  • Emptying urine bottles

Evening

  • To assist me to get into bed
  • To take off my back brace
  • General associated tasks

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

  • A person who respects and understand the importance of privacy and confidentiality of working in someone's home
  • A person with a friendly and easy-going manner
  • Someone who is adaptable and flexible would be an advantage
  • Someone who would support me but not take over
  • Able to work independently and on their own initiative
  • Someone with a good hygiene awareness

  • Someone with a caring and responsible attitude

ABOUT THE JOB

This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.  You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
