I am non-verbal and communicate using PECS and an AAC device. I am sociable, active, happy, independent and strong willed. I love musicals and watching videos on Youtube. I have an eclectic music taste and like anything from the Teletubbies to the Prodigy, from classical to pop. I love doing karaoke, even when I don’t know all of the words. I enjoy watching films, playing musical instruments and really enjoy relaxing. I like to be busy too and like kayaking, swimming, going to the theatre and having picnics. PURPOSE OF THE JOB I am looking for a Personal Assistant who will support me to maintain my independence. I need someone who will support me both at home and in the community, assisting me to access activities and keeping me safe at all times. HOURS OF WORK I have 18 regular weekly hours but will increase to full time (around 30 hours) during July-August months. I will consider a couple of PA's to share these hours. Flexibility is an important aspect of this position. RATES OF PAY £8.72 per hour and mileage will be reimbursed. TASKS CAN INCLUDE Driving me to and supporting me to access different activities including: Kayaking Swimming Pedal Power Pottery Arts and Crafts Cinema Theatre Museums Walk/Picnics Sense in Caerphilly Accessible discos Horse riding Supervising me whilst I have a shower or bath to ensure I am safe Preparing light meals for me Accompanying me to the toilet, although I am able to self-care, I need assistance to ensure I have closed the door TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Experience of autism Common sense Car owner/driver Proactive Someone who will support but not take over Female only Willing to drive outside of local area ABOUT THE JOB This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
