Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I live in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, I am a 46 year old (young at heart) gentleman. I have Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease which affect my nerves which makes my mobility difficult and to day to day tasks. I’m also a right below knee amputee. I am a full time wheelchair user and still coming to terms with this. I try to get out as much as I can with the help from my PA and family as I need somebody with me at all times. I’m at a high risk of falls so I rely on people a lot.

 

 PURPOSE OF THE JOB

I am looking for a PA to help with domestic duties and some shopping, things I just can’t physically do, i.e. change bedding, put my bins out, hoover, mop etc. There is a possibility of some extra hours if and when needed and holiday cover for my other PA which is essential. This is to allow me to remain in my own home with some degree of independence.

 HOURS OF WORK

2 hours per week, time and day to be discussed.

If covering holidays, the hours are 1 hour every morning, 30 mins every evening with a 4 hour social slot that can be flexible.

 

RATES OF PAY

 £9.50 per hour with payments being made every 4 weekly

 

 TASKS CAN INCLUDE

 

  • Emptying my bins and putting them in allocated area
  • Change bedding
  • Hoover/mop
  • General clean of bathroom, living room, kitchen, bedroom
  • Shopping
  • If covering holiday
  • Preparation of meals and tidying away
  • Personal care, washing/dressing
  • Supporting getting to the car and putting wheelchair in
  • Support/assist whilst out
  • This is not a complete, other tasks may be necessary in relation to my support from time to time.

  • Someone who is punctual, dependable, reliable, trustworthy and flexible
  • A cheerful person who has a positive outlook
  • Somebody who is able to interact with me

 

 ABOUT THE JOB

This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.  You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
