Casual Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 73 year old gentleman living in Barry with my dog (who is very placid and friendly).  I have a few different health issues; I am partially sighted, have diabetes and arthritis. I enjoy watching politics on the television. I am a chatty and friendly person. I fall regularly so use a zimmer frame.

PURPOSE OF JOB

Mainly to assist me at meal times, so that I can maintain my independence in my own home. I need a PA that can cover when my other PA is off work through holiday or illness.

PLACE OF WORK

At my home.

HOURS OF WORK

I currently have 2 calls per day, 7 days per week 

8am-12pm/1pm

5pm-7pm

I am looking for a PA who can cover my regular PA when they are on leave/unwell.

RATE OF PAY

£9.00 per hour weekdays

£10.00 per hour weekends

TASKS INVOLVED

  • Preparing hot and cold meals.
  • Maintaining a clean kitchen.
  • Feeding and watering my dog as and when needed.
  • Morning calls only – helping me to apply cream to my legs.
  • Make drinks

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

  • A person who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home
  • Someone trustworthy, reliable and punctual.
  • Someone with a caring and patient nature.
  • A flexible approach to work as occasionally you may be asked to cover for another PA’s holidays.
  • Must like dogs

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.  You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You may be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
