JOB DESCRIPTION

Temporary Could Lead to Permanent - Live in - Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a gentleman living in Llantwit Major, aged 60.  I have Downs Syndrome and I have recently been diagnosed with early onset Dementia which affects my short-term memory and sometimes my mood.  I am a chatty man and get on well with people.    I have been living in Llantwit Major for 35 years and know quite a lot of people in the community.  I like to look at maps and enjoy Country File magazines, going to the Library, visiting the beach where I like to walk.  I enjoy going to places of interest.  I have a laptop.  I lose concentration quite quickly and need guidance when doing these things.

Having freshly cooked meals is something I really enjoy – I am happy to help in the kitchen, but do not cook and also need help with budgeting, shopping for meals and housekeeping generally – laundry and keeping the house tidy.

There is some personal care involved as I need help when bathing and going to the toilet and being prompted to wash my hands afterwards.

I am looking for a LIVE-IN CARER to ensure I am safe and happy at home, I also have a Personal Assistant who supports me to go into the local community to go to places of interest such as the beach, local library and out for nice walks and maybe have tea/coffee whilst out.  However, when I don’t feel like going out I would like support at home whilst I have lunch or tea/coffee and keep me company.
