        Part-time Personal Assistant 

 

 

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF 

 

I am a 74 year old lady living in Barry. I live alone (with my 2 dogs). I am a chatty person, who is outgoing and I really enjoy having a laugh. I like listening to music and singing along. I especially like ABBA, Cliff Richard and any music from the ‘50s (especially Rock & Roll). I like to watch old films and musicals. I like to have the TV on in the background, especially when it’s quiz shows such as The Chase. I love Christmas and am more than happy to talk about this at length. My daughter says that I am very good company. I have dementia and as a result, can be forgetful and a little confused.  

 

PURPOSE OF JOB 

 

I am looking for a Personal Assistant to provide support and company in my home. With this support I will be able to stay living independently in my home for as long as possible, whilst allowing my daughter a break from her caring responsibility. 

 

HOURS OF WORK 

 

I have up to 16 hours available. These hours can be split between 2 PAs as they cover 7 days a week but are flexible. *Please specify your availability when you apply* 

 

 

RATES OF PAY 

 

£9.50 per hour 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

TASKS INVOLVED 

 

  • Assistance with commode 
  • Changing pads if necessary 
  • Providing company for me 
  • Ensuring I am safe at all times 
  • General support around the house 
  • Ensuring I am hydrated 
  • Some personal care 

 

 

 

 

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED 

 

  • Must like dogs 
  • Calm 
  • First Aid trained 
  • Experience of working with people with dementia/dementia trained 
  • Female due to personal care 
  • Someone who can show initiative 
  • Reliable 

 

 

ABOUT THE JOB 

 

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid four weekly and appropriate holiday pay given. 

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority)
