I’m very sociable and enjoy talking to people and attend many social groups in the local community. My hobbies include dancing, singing with the Forget-Me-Not choir and I’m currently having piano lessons. At home I enjoy colouring with my themed colouring books, as well as knitting and listening to music: Glenn Miller being amongst my favourites. I like dinning out, especially drinking tea and eating cakes and enjoy the occasional meal with friends and family at the local pub. I also attend the local Church which a comforting and supportive community. I’m deaf in my right ear and I have Alzheimer’s. This means I need support to keep enjoying life and live it to its fullest and I’m looking for you to help me do this. PLACE OF WORK At home and out in the local community PURPOSE OF THE JOB The purpose of this job is to provide respite for my family, whilst also helping me remain as active and independent as possible. HOURS OF WORK 12 hours a week which are flexible and may be used in bulk sometimes i.e. 10 hours one week and 2 hours on another week. We can discuss this at interview, alongside the possibility of this time increasing as I need more support. RATE OF PAY £9.60 per hour TASKS CAN INCLUDE Accompany me to the local tea dance. Sitting, chatting and providing company around the house. Listening to music, colouring and knitting. Playing games such as dominoes and word games. Dining out in the local area. Ensuring that I am safe at all times. Helping me to maintain my skills in some domestic duties and accompanying me to the local shops. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Experience of dementia (personal or professional) Mature by nature Someone who is calm and patient Someone who is positive and encouraging Has an interest in Dancing, singing and music. Enjoys eating out Non smoker Driver with own car and business class insurance. ABOUT THE JOB I will be your legal employer so you will need a National Insurance number. Pay will be four weekly and appropriate paid annual leave is given. There will be trial period involved and a police check will be necessary (which I will arrange).
