Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am 28 years old living with my family in the area of Barry, I have autism and sometimes I find it difficult to understand and read other people's actions and this can sometimes result in precarious situations as I prefer to keep my personal space. Structure is important to my daily routine and I’m not overly keen on change at the last minute. I have many interests including anime, cosplay and old style music. Sometimes my peers can be dismissive and I have experienced discrimination transphobic bullying as I identify as a transitioning female, as a result of this, I have spent a lot of time at home as I have not wanted to go out in the local area of Barry.

PURPOSE OF JOB

I’d like to find a PA that can help be become more confident and improve my social inclusion.

PLACE OF WORK

At my home and going places outside of Barry like shopping in Cardiff or other activities.

HOURS OF WORK

9 hours per week, with the possibility of an increase

RATE OF PAY

£9.50 per hour (mileage to be agreed)

TASKS INVOLVED

  • Going to Cardiff for a few hours shopping
  • Helping me build my confidence
  • Suggesting things I might like to do
  • Having the patience to build a relationship with me and actively working on building my trust
  • Not reacting to negative behaviour from other people around me regarding my appearance
  • Helping me with social inclusion

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.  You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
