Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job. *: I am a self employed holistic therapist with over 15 years experience working with many types of individuals with varying conditions, treating them with massage therapy. I am a natural living person and suit a PA position for people who are sensitive to chemicals and strong smells. I do not use chemicals or perfumes in my home or work and I wear natural deoderant, body washes and shampoos, use natural washing powder and do not smoke and come from a non-smoking household. I do however own a dog and a cat. I have been using natural products and cleaners in my home for over a decade. I cook all home meals from scratch and very much enjoy cooking and working around the kitchen and keeping a tidy, organised work environment. I take pride in making healthy wholesome meals from fresh ingredients. I make an effort to research and learn about my clients conditions to ensure I offer them the best treatments. I hold a Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate from 2014 and I am happy to update any certificates needed for the position. I have also been an adult class teacher for over 10 years and enjoy organising engaging activities and working in small groups or one-to-one to achieve a goal.  


What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? *: Kind, friendly, supportive, confident, gentle, caring, respectful, patient, understanding, attentive, organised. Its very important to leave personal circumstances and issues behind when working in this role. Being sympathetic but also encouraging is important to provide both a caring nature and positive attitude to support a disabled person to make the most of their day to day lives to the best of their ability.  


How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? *: Because of my patient, caring and calm nature, I believe I can create a comfortable environment and dependable atmosphere to a disabled persons home and routine by way of positive verbal language, soft facial expression, soothing vocal tones and relaxed disposition. I enjoy working alone in the kitchen and can follow instruction easily as I have a self motivated work ethic and strong attention to detail. I can follow instructions well and prepare enjoyable meals despite strict dietary restrictions.  


What is it about PA work which appeals to you? *: I feel concerned to see so many advertisements for PA positions in such a small area (Cardiff) and have been told by my mother, who is currently full time carer for my elderly Grandmother in Florida, my personality would make me an excellent carer. Being a PA would provide me with an opportunity to develop a friendship with a person in need, while also enjoying the things I love which are supporting others, cooking, calm activities like reading, puzzles and light household duties to maintain a healthy, organised and clean environment in their home.  

What are your hobbies/interests?: I am an active person who enjoys hiking, cycling, camping and yoga and martial arts. I am fit and healthy and maintain a a healthy diet and exercise regime. I enjoy reading, watching period dramas and puzzles.
