Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job. *: I have worked in the care sector for over Twenty Years. I was a senior support worker based in a transition unit for adults with a learning disability, and challenging behaviour. Since taking voluntary redundancy 6 years ago I have mostly been agency based, working in a variety of different settings. These include Children, and the elderly. My most previous position was working in a residential setting, supporting Three Children with Autism and complex needs.  

What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? *: I think its important to be honest, kind, and Friendly. To try and have a good understanding of the persons individual needs. To be calm under pressure, and to be able to make informed choices when needed. Also to have a good sense of humor, and to not take oneself to serious. Patience, and discretion are also very important attributes. 

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? *: By being someone who is honest and trustworthy, and by being a good listener. By paying attention to the subtle signs and signals that may be given. Willing to offer ideas, but also be personally willing to try new things.  

What is it about PA work which appeals to you? *: The opportunity to build relationships, and to hopefully witness growth and progression in both parties.  

What are your hobbies/interests?: Im interested in most sports, but really enjoy football. I spent Five years coaching adults and children in Martial Arts. I enjoy reading, and movies, plus am a Dog owner, so nice long walks are a joy to me.
