Currently working as a health care Assistant In the children nursing team . Worked for many years in Ty Gwyn school as a teaching assist . Knowledge of special educations needs school Ty Gwyn , can use Makaton , knowledge of verbal Palsy and worked as a residential with Service users who have a spectrum from additional needs taking them out for leisure activities , personal care carried out , used PECs ( Picture exchange communication system). Fully aware of how to use care plans, risk assessments person centre plans . The importance of liaising with parents and carers regarding the young person. Able to use wheelchairs, hoists splints etc . Currently healthcare support worker in a children’s community service Providing holistic care for children with complex health and physical needs. Incorporating fun wherever possible and safe to do so.

 What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): Knowledge of their disability, implications of the disability, understanding in person strengths, their likes dislikes. Understanding health needs, finding out and understanding their risk assessments and care plans Finding out the aim of the sessions Finding out their communication preference and using this

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): Many Years of experience with various young people of all different needs and abilities and additional need. I have adapted all care and activities fun and domestic to the needs and health needs of the child / young Person I have worked with My knowledge and experience in disabilities and additional needs . Including the young person in everything possible And safe to do so . Finding out the persons strengths and difficulties
