Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job. *: During my previous role with the Apollo teaching agency, I spent a lot of time assisting at The Hollies special school. At the school I supported children with autism and physical disabilities. I was required to look after childrens emotional, social and physical welfare both inside and outside the classroom. I found my time working at The Hollies extremely rewarding and enjoyable. In the past I have taught drums and guitar privately to a wide range of pupils on a one to one basis. I developed lesson plans and adapted projects to cater to the needs of my students. After graduating from the University Of South Wales, I gained employment there, teaching a performance module to the Popular Music students. My role involved inspiring creativity, offering technical knowledge and providing feedback for the undergraduates. In recent years I have toured extensively with my band all over the world. We had the pleasure of performing on Jools Holland, playing Glastonbury and supporting Neil Young on a European tour. As the leader of the band I was required to be efficient and organised when booking travel to places including America and Australia. I am an unpaid carer for a family member. My role involves assisting personal care, offering emotional support, accompanying to appointments and helping with every day tasks such as shopping and collecting medication.  

What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? *: Being friendly, patient and able to genuinely connect with a person who you are seeing regularly is imperative. I believe reliability and consistency are vital qualities when working as a personal assistant. Making someone feel comfortable and at ease when assisting with personal care is also very important. 

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? *: I have experience supporting people with a variety of needs and I am comfortable meeting whatever is expected of me. I have worked with individuals who require a lot of physical assistance and in contrast have supported those with more emotional needs. I understand the importance of recognising and empathising with a disabled persons independence and specific requirements.  

What is it about PA work which appeals to you? *: I really enjoy working with and being around people. PA work is exciting to me because everyday is different and I am passionate about helping others. I am an outgoing person so having the opportunity to share experiences and interests with someone is really appealing to me.  

What are your hobbies/interests?: I have been playing and loving music since I was a child. I play the drums, guitar and sometimes sing. I am a professional musician with my own band Boy Azooga and play drums for Keys, Charlotte Church and more. I collect records and love DJing all types of music from Soul, to Rock n Roll, to Hip Hop, to Jazz and Classical. I enjoy walking my dog Martha in the park. I also love watching films, socialising, eating out and I have recently started Kung Fu classes which Im really enjoying.
