Female Personal Assistant 

 

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF 

 

I am a 43 year old disabled lady living in Llanishen with my husband and assistance dog. I am registered blind and I’m a full-time wheelchair user. I do voluntary work for Cardiff Institute for the Blind. “I have a wide range of interests including taking my dog for walks, most kinds of music, watching films and reading” I also like to go to the theatre. 

The role requires close personal contact with an individual who is extremely vulnerable to the risk of infection and disease transmission. Preference may be given to applicants who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Careful consideration will be given to applicants who can show the vaccination is not suitable for them on reasonable grounds.

 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB 

 

The purpose of the job is to enable me to live as independently as possible at home and in the community. 

 

HOURS OF WORK 

 

9am-2pm on Sunday’s.  

 

There will also be occasional respite cover for my husband and holiday/sickness cover available. 

 

RATES OF PAY  

 

£9.50 per hour weekdays. 

£9.90 per hour weekends. 

 

TASKS CAN INCLUDE 

 

  • Personal care 
  • Dressing and undressing 
  • Moving and handling using a turning disc 
  • Assistance with physio 
  • Helping me in and out of bed 
  • Meals preparation 
  • Day to day light domestic work and admin support 
  • Medication 
  • Social outings, community activities 
  • Supporting in visiting shops, going for coffee and hospital appointments.  
  • Assistance with all Aspects of the care of my assistance dog, including grooming and walking 
  • Any other reasonable task associated with this kind of employment

ABOUT THE JOB 

This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.  You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
