JOB DESCRIPTION  

Female Personal Assistant 

 

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF 

 

I am a full-time wheelchair user, in my 30s, living in the Grangetown area of Cardiff. I need assistance with day-to-day activities, such as personal care, dressing, food preparation and driving my wheelchair accessible vehicle when I go out to shops, and visit people. I am an outgoing person who has good humour, a caring nature and show empathy. I believe in treating people fairly. 

 

PURPOSE OF JOB 

 

I need support with activities within my home as well as accessing the local community. 

 

PLACE OF WORK 

 

I live in the Grangetown area of Cardiff, travel at time will be required by my carers to assist me with accessing the community. 

 

HOURS OF WORK 

 

I have 41.25 hours a week of support agreed, which I use flexibly. Ideally I would have 3 personal assistants or more, not necessarily all working equally, to cover the hours available.  

This is a 7 day a week care package however, the appointed p/a’s would not be expected to work 7 days a week. Times to be discussed at interview, however flexibility would be required to cover holidays and sickness. 

 

Breakdown of hours-  

 

Monday- 6 hours 

Wednesday- 3.25 hours 

Thursday- 6 hours 

Friday- 6 hours 

Saturday- 10 hours 

Sunday- 10 hours  

 

RATE OF PAY 

  

£9.70 per hour. 

 

 

TASKS INVOLVED 

 

  • Providing meals and drinks and snacks breakfast / lunch. 
  • Prompting of medication 
  • Accessing the community 
  • Assist with some home chores. 
  • Personal Care 

 

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED 

 

  • Reliable and punctual. 
  • Able to respect my privacy and confidentiality. 
  • Have common sense and initiative. 
  • Patient and Empathy. 
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet my needs. 
  • Works well within a team. 
  • A willingness to learn, with a can do attitude. 
  • Preferably, hold a Manual Handling certificate, if not then free training will be provided.

ABOUT THE JOB 

 

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A probation period will be necessary in the first instance.  Wages will be paid 4 weekly.  You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
