JOB DESCRIPTION  

Personal Assistant 

 

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF 

 

Hello.  My name’s Muriel (Mu) and I’m a lady in her 80s (don’t tell anyone) living in the Cardiff Bay. I need assistance with day-to-day activities, such as medication, personal care, dressing, making home-cooked meals and helping me to get around and socialise. After over a year of being confined to barracks due to Covid, it would be good to get out of the flat as much as possible. I am friendly person with a good sense of humour and like nothing more than a chat and catching up on the day’s news, which interests me greatly.  

 

PURPOSE OF JOB 

 

I need support with activities within my home as well as accessing the local community. 

 

PLACE OF WORK 

 

Cardiff Bay. Travel away from normal place of work may be required on occasions. 

 

HOURS OF WORK 

 

8 hours per day, which would be a 09:30 – 18:30 shift including 1 hour free-time for lunch. Ideally, I would have two personal assistants who would work not necessarily equally, to cover the hours available across a 7-day period. 

 

RATE OF PAY 

  

£9.25 per hour. 

 

 

TASKS INVOLVED 

 

  • Providing breakfast, lunch and dinner with snacks as required. 
  • Preparing home-cooked meals for dinner a necessity. 
  • Assisting with showering and dressing. 
  • Application/removal of pressure stockings. 
  • Administering medication. 
  • Leading daily exercise routine. 
  • Light domestic tasks. 
  • Food planning for the week ahead. 
  • Social calls.

ABOUT THE JOB 

 

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A probation period will be necessary in the first instance.  Wages will be paid 4-weekly.  You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata).
