JOB DESCRIPTION

Part-time Personal Assistant

 

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

 

78-year-old lady living in Llanederyn, Cardiff requires a personal assistant to support her with her everyday needs.

 

She has dementia but her mobility is mainly affected.  She can be very forgetful and the personal assistant will need to communicate clearly and prompt regularly.  She uses a sara stedy for all transfers so manual handling training will be required.

 

She is a quiet lady that enjoys watching all sports, soaps and particularly like nature programmes.  She also enjoys crosswords, card games and dominoes.  

 

 

HOURS OF WORK

7 hours per week

Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays

 

1.5 hours morning call to start between 7am and 7.15am.

50 minutes Tea time- between 4pm and 5pm.

 

Additional hours may be available in the future.

RATES OF PAY

£9.80 per hour

 

TASKS INVOLVED

  • All aspects of personal care
  • Support with toileting
  • Support with meal prep (e.g. toast or a sandwich at teatime). Food will need to be cut up.
  • PAs can prompt with medication but must not administer

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid four weekly and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
