JOB DESCRIPTION
Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I’m a lady in my 60s, living in the Danescourt area of Cardiff. I used to be a singer in pubs and clubs. It would be wonderful to arrange some time to sing in “old people’s homes” so that I can entertain them, and cheer them up I would like a practical person to help me to arrange appointments, collect prescriptions and practical tasks. If you like computers and you’re a very patient person, this may be an added bonus given that I would like to learn to use them more. I have a brilliant relationship with my sister and her husband, who I like to see regularly. As my companion PA, you will liaise closely with her so that she is aware of what we’re doing. I need support to help with the things I find difficult. If you like people watching and going for a coffee, you would also like this job!

PURPOSE OF JOB

To help me access to community and prevent my isolation.

PLACE OF WORK

Work will normally start in my home, but increasingly will be out and about in the community.

HOURS OF WORK

4 hours per week

I have four hours a week on average, but this can be arranged flexibly to suit us both depending on our commitments. As long as the work is done regularly, over a four-week period, the rest is up to us. I’m thinking along the lines of two shifts a week initially, each of two hours so that we can get to know each other and I can fit in around school time if that helps. For example, 12 noon till 2 PM. We can discuss this at interview.

RATE OF PAY

£10.25 per hour.

TASKS INVOLVED

• Helping me arrange appointments.
• Assisting me with practical tasks around my home.
• Accompanying me to meetings and social events.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

• Reliable and punctual.
• Honest and trustworthy.
• Good organisational skills.
• Sociable and friendly.
• Understanding and supportive, without being patronising.
• Similar leisure interests.
• Full driving licence (desirable.)
