A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

Young female child living in the Splott area of Cardiff. She has complex needs and is nonverbal. She has a learning disability and is globally delayed in her learning and understanding and has no insight into risk or danger. She is nonverbal so she uses gestures sounds and expressions to make herself understood.

Lack of communication can cause her to become frustrated and will need distraction and reassurance during these periods. She is a contented and happy child who loves playing. Her mother also needs help with daily tasks so some one that can help them both would be desired

PURPOSE OF JOB

Support with personal care, bathing. Getting ready for school (Term time)

Provide stimus, engage in social interaction. Taking outdoors and to suitable activities.

PLACE OF WORK

I live in the Splott area of Cardiff. Travel away from normal place of work may be required on occasions. A full driving licence for a manual vehicle is essential.

HOURS OF WORK 10 Hours per week (Flexible)

5 x 1 hour calls at 11:20 until 12:20 getting dressed, fed and ready for nursery (Mon-Fri).

2 x 1 hour calls at 6pm until 7pm getting bathed, dressed, fed and ready for bed (Tuesdays and Thursdays).

1 x 3 hour call per week ideally on a Saturday taking out into the community accessing activities that support her development such as swimming, play groups, soft play, play centres, trampolining and Techniquest.

RATE OF PAY

£10.42 per hour

TASKS INVOLVED

· Attending to her personal care when needed

· Supervising the child at all times.

· Taking the child outdoors

· Ensuring that the child is safe at all times.

· Supporting child with use of Makaton

● Experience in a similar role is desirable

● Experience working with a child with complex needs

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A probation period will be necessary

in the first instance. Wages will be paid 4 weekly. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
