I have limited walking ability and I have just started using my new wheelchair when out in the community. I am also limited with my hand coordination. I am very chatty even though I struggle a little bit with my speech but I am bilingual. Welsh is very important to me. I love going to classes doing crafts and painting, yoga and socializing with other people. I like going shopping, out for coffee and snacks, knitting and watching travel and cooking programs on TV. I am trying to be independent as much as possible and make my own decisions. I don’t like handling anything hot and that is why I cannot do any cooking. PURPOSE OF JOB To assist me with the tasks that I can’t do, to enable me to live in the community safely. PLACE OF WORK As detailed above, the job will be in the Whitchurch area of Cardiff. You will be expected to work in my home and in the community, as the job requires. HOURS OF WORK 8 hours per week – Includes 4 hours on a Wednesday & 4 hours which can be worked on a Monday or Thursday. RATE OF PAY £10.25 an hour. TASKS INVOLVED Willing to assist me in the home as well as in the community, with any tasks I cannot do or have difficulty with. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Patient and understanding. Willing to learn on the job. Good sense of humour. Reliable, flexible and adaptable. Similar leisure interests. ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A probation period will be necessary in the first instance. Wages will be paid 4 weekly. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
