Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

 

Personal assistant is required for a young child living in Llandaff North, to support her out in the community to activities she enjoys.  

 

She is diagnosed with Diabetes Insipidus and is blind so will need to be supervised at all times to ensure her safety.  She walks very slowly and dislikes using a wheel chair.  It is important the PA communicates clearly with her.

 

She will show similar traits to an autistic child for example it’s very important for her to have a routine.

 

She will be able to communicate if given options of what she wants to do that day and will let you know if there is anything she dislikes.

To support out in the community to places she enjoys

HOURS OF WORK

3 hours p/w term time and 6 hours p/w in the school holiday.

 

Flexible working hours to be discussed but would need to be afterschool during term time and in the weekdays during school holidays.

 

RATE OF PAY

 

£12.65 an hour

 

TASKS INVOLVED

·        Enjoys swimming, going to the park, climbing, trampolining, soft play and going to the farm.

·        Regular prompting to go to the toilet as she will not let you know when she wants to go.

·        Ensure safety at all times

 

 

 

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

·        Able to understand and respect privacy and confidentiality

·        Honest and trustworthy

·        Reliable and punctual

·        Patient and understanding

·        Car driver is essential

·        Experience with working with children is essential.

 

 

 

ABOUT THE JOB

 

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A probation period will be necessary in the first instance.  Wages will be paid 4 weekly.  You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
