JOB DESCRIPTION

Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

 

I’m a PhD student who enjoys gaming, weightlifting and crafting. My pronouns are she/they. My culture and family are very important to me.

I am autistic, have energy limiting illnesses and a diagnosis of bipolar disorder.

 

 

PURPOSE OF JOB

To provide assistance and support in my day-to-day life. which will help facilitate my independence, wellbeing, and quality of life by providing flexible, empathetic, and professional support across a range of areas.

 

 

PLACE OF WORK

 

In the home or out in the community

 

 

 

HOURS OF WORK

 

5 hours a week

 

RATE OF PAY

 

£13.85 per hour

 

TASKS INVOLVED

Social Duties

·        Keep in touch and socialise with family and friends

·        Planning and organising my weekly schedule

·        Maintain my routine for university

·        Attend medical appointments

·        Do hobbies or attend social events e.g. crafts at Aubergine Café

 

Personal Care

 

·        Bathing, showering, shaving, teeth cleaning, dressing

·        Monitoring my medication

·        Maintaining regular eating patterns

·        Performing exercises/physiotherapy

 

Domestic duties

·        Food shopping, cooking and following dietitian advice

·        Managing my environment at home and bedroom to keep on

top of laundry and rubbish etc.

 

 

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

·        Demonstrate patience and flexibility

·        Experience/knowledge of providing support for individuals with invisible disabilities, mental health conditions, and/or autism

 

 

ABOUT THE JOB

 

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A probation period will be necessary in the first instance.  Wages will be paid 4 weekly.  You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
