CDP457 Personal Assistant to Child Quote ref: CDP457 on application form Apply here JOB DESCRIPTION Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF 11 year old boy living in Whitchurch Cardiff requires a personal assistant to support him out In the community to places he enjoys. He has Autism, global learning delay, behavioural difficulties and anxiety. The hours are 2:1 so you will be required to work alongside another carer. The reason for this is because he can become anxious very quickly which can put himself and others at risk so he will need a lot of time and patience. He is non-verbal however; his understanding is quite good if what is being asked is shown to him. He can say simple words and is familiar with PECS and visuals schedules. He is a lovely, sweet little boy - he has a great sense of humour and loves to laugh. It’s really important though to be caring, calm at all times and have a lot of patience. Ideally he needs someone with experience in Autism. HOURS OF WORK 6 hours per week (double handed) Saturday 12pm- 3pm (can be flexible with these hours) Thursday after school- 2pm- 5pm Additional hours available during school holidays. RATE OF PAY £9.85 an hour TASKS INVOLVED Support out in the community to places he enjoys which can be discussed at the time. He doesn’t really like to go out in the winter months, however as the sun starts to come out then walks are introduced again, and slowly he will get used to going out a bit more. He doesn't like loud, crowded or unfamiliar places, so he won’t go to a play centre, swimming, or trampoline parks. He will go out for drives if he is calm and will go to McDonald’s for food. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Reliable, committed and punctual Understanding of confidentiality and privacy Trustworthy and efficient Confident/ proactive Friendly and chatty Car driver is preferable ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A probation period will be necessary in the first instance. Wages will be paid 4 weekly. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
