CDP475 Personal Assistant to Child (Casual) Quote ref: CDP475 on application form Apply now JOB DESCRIPTION Cover Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF 13-year-old girl from the Tremorfa, Cardiff area requires a personal assistant to support her with her daily needs and provide respite for her family. She has microcephaly, which is a medical condition in which the brain does not develop properly. She is non-verbal, unable to feed herself or perform any basic tasks. She enjoys swimming, cinema and bike riding her disability bike although she hasn’t been able to do these tasks since COVID and has been going to the park or for a walk, she would like to try and go back again once they open up properly. HOURS OF WORK PA to cover my current PA's annual leave and sickness. Usual working hours as follows - 6 hours per week (3 hours are double handed to work alongside another carer). 3 hours (double handed) on a Saturday - 11am - 2pm 3 hours (single handed) on a Monday or Wednesday - 4pm - 7pm RATES OF PAY £9.85 per hour TASKS INVOLVED Support with personal care and dressing Moving and handling is required as she is unable to stand without assistance Support out in the community on social outings Support at meal times with feeding Potentially support with hospital appointments TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Reliable, committed and punctual Understanding of confidentiality and privacy Trustworthy and efficient Car driver is preferable but not essential Patient and understanding, she is non-verbal and expresses herself through noises Happy to support her swimming Manual handling training will be required and can be arranged ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four weekly and appropriate holiday pay given. The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority). The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK.
