I use a wheelchair to move around my home and when out. I live with my mam and dad and we have one cat and two dogs. I look a lot younger than I am, but do not like being spoken to like a child. I enjoy watching television and DVD’s. I listen to lots of audio story tapes and I enjoy listening to music too. I enjoy spending time with my PA’s and like to do crafts. I love shopping and being outdoors in general when the weather is fine. I enjoy cooking. I am fed via a gastronomy tube. PURPOSE OF THE JOB I am looking for PA’s to work alongside my current PA to provide me with personal care support in the mornings, evenings and weekend. PA’s to help keep my bathroom and bedroom clean and tidy. HOURS OF WORK There are two positions available, you will work alternate days with the current PA. Job 1 (Week 1) Monday/Wednesday/Friday – 17:45 to 19:15 Saturday 11:15 to 15:45 Job 2 (Week 2) (Hours will eventually change when Day centre re-opens) Tuesday/Thursday – 11:00 to 14:00 Saturday - 11:15 to 14:15 RATES OF PAY £9.50 per hour Monday – Friday £10.00 per hour Saturday – Sunday TASKS WILL INCLUDE Personal care ie washing & dressing. Support from chair to bed and back to my chair Cleaning and tidying my bedroom and bathroom Other reasonable tasks required during these hours Taking me outside the home Using my hoist and other manual handling equipment Pushing my wheelchair TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED A person who is dependable and arrives on time Someone with experience in assisting with personal care A person who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in some else’s home A person who finds the regular times suitable for their lifestyle A person with a positive commitment to this kind of work A person with a friendly, easy going manner Someone who is adaptable and flexible would be an advantage Someone who could provide extra hours as occasions arise would be an advantage A person who is physically fit enough to push my wheelchair ABOUT THE JOB Though a part time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A Trial period will be necessary in the first instance of 6 months. The wage will be paid fortnightly on return of a payslip provided by Dewis Centre for Independent Living. You will be paid by cheque by the employer. You will receive appropriate annual leave. A DBS is compulsory, at no cost to you.
