I have a learning disability. I enjoy watching TV, especially soaps like Coronation Street. I am very friendly to new people I meet and I am happy most of the time. If I seem sad it is because I am seriously thinking about something. My sister lives nearby and is my main carer. PURPOSE OF THE JOB You will support my sister to look after me so that she can have some time to herself once in a while. You will support me in the home with everyday needs such as personal care, household chores and meal preparation. The ideal PA is one who can encourage me with day-to-day activities, support me to be more independent and to ensure my safety and well-being. HOURS OF WORK 4 hours per weekend. Sat and Sun mornings / 2 each day You will also be available to cover my other PA during the week, on occasion. RATE OF PAY £10.00 per hour 40p per mile when taking me out in the community TASKS CAN INCLUDE Making me breakfast and light snacks and drinks during the day Reminding me to take my medication Carrying out household chores such as dusting, washing dishes, laundry, vacuuming and changing my bedding You will be required to assist me with my personal care. This will include washing, dressing and hair care. I am unable to do any of these on my own so full support is needed. You will provide me with company in the home and sometimes just sit with me and have a chat over a cup of tea Ensuring my safety at all times, both inside and outside of the house TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Needs to be trustworthy and confident Needs to be flexible and reliable A naturally kind and caring person who is easy to talk to Someone who will not be strict with me A friendly person with a good sense of humour Someone who is patient with me Someone who will engage with me and take an interest in my life Someone who respects my privacy, confidentiality and dignity A car owner/driver ABOUT THE JOB This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number that needs to be submitted. During the first instance, a trial period of 6 months is necessary. Wages will be paid on a monthly basis on payslips provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holiday and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check at no cost to you.
