Apply now JOB DESCRIPTION Part-Time Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am a 37 year old man living in Rhydyfelin with my parents. I have a genetic disability, which has led to me having a learning disability. I attend a local respite centre in my area and enjoy spending time out and about. I have a PA currently and together we enjoy trips out in the car and visiting places of interest such as castles, going to the beach in Porthcawl and going to have food out. I get on brilliantly with my current PA and we’ve worked together for a number of years. I enjoy being out of the house, going out in the car and generally being out and about. I like going to the cinema, bowling and to McDonalds. My PA says sometimes when I’m out I scream loudly and draw attention to myself. Generally though I’m easy going and my parents describe me as very loving. PURPOSE OF THE JOB The purpose of the job is to enable me to enjoy time out of my family home and allow my parents to have a break from their caring role. In doing so you’ll widen my social circles and allow me to live a fulfilled and active life. TASKS WILL INCLUDE Take me to places I will enjoy – cinema, bowling or to the seaside Drive me in your car Support me to change my pad while out and about – I am double incontinent Support me to eat and drink Help me to manage my money HOURS OF WORK 5 hours per week Either a Monday or Wednesday afternoon. RATES OF PAY £9.50 per hour 40p per mile TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED A person who is dependable and arrives on time Car owner and driver Someone with experience in assisting with personal care A person with a positive commitment to this kind of work A person with a friendly, easy going manner Someone who is adaptable and flexible would be an advantage Someone who could provide extra hours as occasions arise would be an advantage A person who is physically fit enough to push my wheelchair ABOUT THE JOB Though a part time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Inurance number to be submitted. A Trial period will be necessary in the first instance of 6 months. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by Dewis Centre for Independent Living. You will be paid by cheque by the employer. You will receive appropriate annual leave. A DBS check is compulsory prior to starting which the council will pay for.
