DP1073 Personal assistant Quote REF: DP1073 on Application Form Apply now JOB DESCRIPTION Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am a 19 year old female with a learning disability living in the Pontyclun area and attending a Special School in RCT. I am mobile, verbal and very sociable with a great sense of humour. I love swimming, drama, dance, singing, shopping, going to the cinema. I need some help, support and guidance when I’m at home and particularly when I go out and about in the community. I suffer from the occasional seizure and if one happened I would require oral medication to be given immediately - training will be given. PURPOSE OF THE JOB I am looking for a personal assistant to accompany and, when appropriate, help me participate in community activities. To undertake social and leisure activities, meet new people and try new things to help maintain my independence. I’d like to learn new skills and practice things like money handling and getting food whilst I’m out with my PA. HOURS OF WORK Currently 6.5 hours a week term time and 10 hours a week in school holidays. If required on a weekday during term time I would need to be picked up from home at 3.45p.m. at the end of the school day. I will be leaving school in July and so most hours will then be worked during the day. Days of working: flexible. RATES OF PAY £10.80 per hour Plus Mileage Allowance (when applicable) TASKS WILL INCLUDE Making sure I am safe at all times when out and about. Providing me with companionship. Helping me to travel to activities. Supporting me to try new things and experience new activities. Helping me to learn money handling techniques. Supporting me in developing appropriate social and life skills. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Driver with access to own vehicle with business insurance. Someone who is bubbly, outgoing, positive, encouraging and confident. Someone who shares my interests and can suggest things to do. Someone who is honest, organised, reliable, patient and respects confidentiality. Experience of working with children / young adults with additional needs. ABOUT THE JOB This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
