Personal Assistant – TEMP COVER

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I’m a man in my 60’s with complex learning and health needs. I live by myself but my sister visits often and provides a lot of my care needs. I have chronic insomnia and sometimes I walk around my bungalow through the night. I also have epilepsy which is uncontrolled which can happen at any time and sometimes I could have a number of seizures one after the other. I am non-verbal but I have a cheeky sense of humour and I have a good level of understanding but can sometimes can be unable to respond to commands

ABOUT THE JOB

This a temporary role to cover PA sickness. The role will be ongoing until further notice, which will be one month notice.

HOURS OF WORK

30 – 36 HOURS PER WEEK, worked as 3 waking night shifts per week

Also to cover sickness and annual leave which could include day hours and overnights which is a waking night, more can be discussed at interview

RATE OF PAY

£10.00 per hour

TASKS INVOLVED

  • As you will be working overnight you will be awake to monitor my safety whilst I sleep
  • General support around the house which could include general household cleaning
  • General and basic meal prep and proving drinks as and when needed
  • Assistance with eating and drinking
  • Assisting me with my bathing, toileting and hygiene needs – ie: personal care
  • Support me through a seizure – this will be explained in more detail
  • Ensuring my safety and well-being

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

  • You must be reliable and flexible
  • Someone who has a good sense of humour
  • A positive outlook
  • Respect the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home
  • Experience in a caring role would be beneficial but not essential
  • An understanding of seizures will be beneficial
  • Mature and well-experienced in life is strongly preferred

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.  You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You may be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
