DP1450 Personal Assistant Quote ref DP1450 on application form Apply Now JOB DESCRIPTION Part-time Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MY FATHER He is 70 year old retired publican and well known boxer, originally from Cardiff but now living in Llanharan. We are looking to employ a couple of Personal Assistants. My father has Alzheimer’s and has recently come home from hospital after breaking his hip, some 4 months ago. Therefore, he is currently not mobile and difficulty in understanding instructions has limited his recovery. This situation has left my father bedridden and therefore, we require someone who is trained in mobile assistance/heavy lifting and experienced in using necessary equipment to support safe handling. My father has also been fitted with a catheter, so experience in dealing with situations or issues as they may arise is desired. He is also incontinent and therefore pad changing will be required at regular times. He is also currently on thickening fluids and Level 5 minced and moist diet and will require to be fed and supervised with drinks. He is able to communicate slightly but a high level of anticipating his needs will be required. He will require daily hygiene and cleaning support. PLACE OF WORK My father resides in Llanharan. HOURS OF WORK We are looking for 2 PAs to be flexible, minimum 16 hours per week but could increase with discussion. Therefore, negotiation on hours available and dependent upon having 2 PAs. Ability to work weekdays, evenings and weekends are essential to maintain cover for my father’s safety. You will provide cover for sickness and holidays, picking up extra hours as and when needed. We currently have early morning call via agency. RATE OF PAY £10.50 per hour TASKS INVOLVED Personal Care and personal hygiene Preparing food and drink and supervision / feeding will be required. Bed changing Appropriate use of PPE Constant supervision for safety purposes Use of safety equipment to support the needs of you and my father Laundry, dishes and housework as and when required to ensure safe and clean working environment Other duties as required TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Reliable, Flexible and consistent is essential A person who respects and understands the need for confidentiality Fully trained and experienced in dementia care Manual handling and associated equipment training is desirable, however full training will be given Trustworthy Willing to provide cover for other PA A Caring nature Someone who can work as part of a team with good communications skills (With father, carers and family) ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. My daughter will be your legal employer. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
