Apply now JOB DESCRIPTION Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am a lady in my 70s living in Tonyrefail with my husband and he is my main carer Following a stroke. I have been left with paralysis on one side and a speech impairment. I have always been a very independent person and know my own mind. I have worked all my life and my career history includes such things as Biochemistry and working with blood analysis within the NHS. My interests included crafts such as sewing, embroidery and painting however i am now unable to do these things. I enjoy watching the Tour de France and black and white movies. PURPOSE OF JOB keeping me safe at home, Hoisting me from my bed into the chair, assisting me with my personal care, helping to feed me and helping me with my physiotherapy exercises/ speech therapy. PLACE OF WORK At home HOURS OF WORK 14 hours in total 4 hours on a Saturday & Sunday morning 8:30 - 12:30 3 hours on a Saturday & Sunday Afternoon 15:00 - 18:00 It is essential that you would be able to cover my other PAs RATE OF PAY £10.65 per hour including double pay on bank holidays TASKS INVOLVED Assisting me with personal care (including toileting, changing, showering) Helping me to transfer from my chair to the toilet or car. Pushing me in my wheelchair. Assisting me with my physiotherapy exercises/stretches and also my speech therapy. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Over 25, as you will need to be eligible to drive my mobility car. Someone patient and understanding, who is able to empathise. Similar interests (especially crafting) would be an advantage. Someone who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home. A mature outlook on life. Someone who will gently encourage me to remain independent. Manual handling will be necessary, we can also provide training ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You may be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you. Thank you.
