Apply now JOB DESCRIPTION Part-Time Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am a 42 years old, bright and bubbly woman who was born with a severe physical disability that is similar to osteoarthritis. I cannot walk at all and permanently use a powered-wheelchair. I live in a 2 bedroom flat, just outside Pontypridd town centre. I am looking to recruit a team of Personal Assistants, who will help assist me in maintaining my personal independence in a variety of different ways. Previous care work experience is not essential, but a friendly, caring nature is a must! HOURS OF WORK I have a substantial care package to cover; meaning that there are both day time hours and nightshift sleep-ins available. Weekends will also need to be covered. 7x 13:00 - 15:30 7x 19:00 - 9:30am (7pm to 11pm Care work - 11pm to 8am Sleep - 8am to 9:30am Preparing me to get ready for the day) RATES OF PAY £10.00 per hour and nightshift sleep-ins are paid at £68.32 (from midnight to 7am). TASKS WILL INCLUDE All aspects of personal care, including: toileting, showering; dressing; applying make-up and styling; feeding food and oral medication and some moving and handling with a manual hoist. All aspects of household maintenance, including: cooking; washing-up and drying dishes; laundry; polishing and hoovering; changing bedding; opening mail; recycling; assisting with going food shopping or unpacking a food delivery; and storing/filing paperwork. Accompanying me on social events, including: cinema/theatre; concerts; spiritual and well-being shows; shopping; visiting friends and family; holidays and other hobby/lifestyle events. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED To be trustworthy and understand the need for confidentiality within this role is vital. A warm and friendly natured person, with a more-often-or-not cheery disposition. Punctuality and reliability are essential aspects of this role. The ability to display a non-judgemental attitude and open-mindedness to how I live my life and the choices that I make. The ability to take instructions is paramount – as your role is to be my hands and not my brain. Previous care work experience is not essential – it’s a caring nature that is more important. The ability to drive is preferred but not essential – you must hold a full UK Driving License. ABOUT THE JOB This job requires a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The salary will be paid on a fortnightly basis and appropriate holiday pay given. The post is subject to a probationary period and a DBS (Police) Check at no cost to you. You will have to supply 2 references, one of which should be able to comment on your work practices.
