Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I’m a gentleman in my mid 40’s, who is a wheelchair user due to an accident which resulted in a spinal cord injury. I have no feeling from the waist down and limited movements with my hands but can use a knife and fork. My interests include sports especially football and rugby. I enjoy music like ‘The Cranberries’ and ‘Alanis Morissette’. I will be going to the gym in Llantrisant Community Centre to help build up strength.

PURPOSE OF JOB

I am looking for a Personal Assistant to assist with taking me out and help me in my home. (Llanharry area)

HOURS OF WORK

Shifts that are needed covering are on a 3 week rota of (so two weekends off in a row)

Week 1:
Monday 8 - 14:30
Tuesday: 8 - 14:30
Wednesday : 8 - 14:30
Thursday 17:30 - 20:30

Week 2:
Wednesday 17:30 - 20:30
Thursday 08:00 - 14:30 & 17:30 - 20:30
Friday 08:00 - 14:30 & 17:30 - 20:30

Week 3:
Thursday 17:30 - 20:30
Sat 08:00 - 14:30 & 17:30 - 20:30
Sunday 08:00 - 14:30 & 17:30 - 20:30

RATES OF PAY

£10.20 per hour

TASKS INVOLVED

  • Ensure that all my needs are met
  • Support with daily tasks
  • Support me within my home and out in the community
  • Ensure I am safe at all times
  • Making light meals for example a poached egg

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

  • Friendly, outgoing, positive and likes sports
  • Someone with a mature outlook
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Considerate, caring and trustworthy
  • Understanding of my needs
  • Experience or knowledge of how my spinal cord injury affects me
  • Car driver/Access to a car
  • Experience with manual handling would be beneficial
  • Driving my car if needed (must be over the age of 25 for insurance purposes)

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid four weekly and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
