Personal Assistant

 

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

 

I am a man in my 80’s living in Brynsadler, Pontyclun and I suffer with memory issues. I also had a stroke in September but I have improved since then. I enjoy speaking about the war, trains and being a fireman. I also enjoy playing cards and dominos. I am looking for a Personal Assistant to support with stimulation with conversation and activities. This will help reduce my loneliness and the feeling of being isolated.

 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

The purpose of the job is to support me in the home and out for a walk. With keeping me occupied it will help reduce my loneliness, isolation and low moods.

 

HOURS OF WORK

 

2 x 2 hour weekly calls, day time

Usually to be worked on a Tuesday and a Thursday

 

RATES OF PAY

 

£10.50 per hour

 

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

 

• Ensure my needs are met
• Keep me occupied and provide me with company
• Play cards and dominos
• Encouragement with eating and meal preparation
• Take me for a walk down the street
• Ensure I am safe

 

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

 

• Reliable and punctual
• Considerate, caring and trustworthy
• Knowledge of how my conditions affects me
• Someone with similar interests

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid monthly and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
