A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I’m an elderly gentleman in my late 70’s. I live alone in a bungalow in Brynsadler. I am looking for a personal assistant to support me to walk to the local pub which is 10-minute walk from my house and across a busy road. I can walk but need help to always ensure I am safe. I have Parkinsons and dementia. I can express my wishes and I am looking for a personal assistant to provide companionship and accompany me to any social activities in the area.

PURPOSE OF JOB

  • Main reason for the position is to support me to walk to the local pub for a drink and back home, and any other social activities in the area. To provide companionship at home if the weather is bad by playing dominos, cards and doing crosswords.

HOURS OF WORK

6 hours a week, 2 hours at a time 3 afternoons a week, days and times can be flexible.

RATE OF PAY

£10.80 per hour

TASKS INVOLVED

  • Walking to the local pub and back
  • Helping with social outings, community activities
  • Playing dominos and playing cards
  • Doing crosswords
  • Any other reasonable task

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a position requiring a National Insurance number. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four weekly and appropriate holiday pay given. The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority). The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK.
