Apply now Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am a 79 year old man who lives at home with my wife in the Pontypridd area. I am a friendly man who is quite easy going. I can get tired and a little down from time to time, but am mostly quite accepting of the way my disability now affects my life. I am interested in anything to do with farming, having worked as a farmer and lived on a farm since I was born. I also am interested in rugby, having supported Pontypridd RFC throughout my life. I enjoy watching nature programmes and am not a fan of soaps. I like the music of Tom Jones and like Max Boyce. I have a Pituitary Gland impairment, which affects my balance, vision and can cause short-term memory impairment. PURPOSE OF JOB I am looking to employ at least two Personal Assistants to support me within the home. I have double handed calls in the morning. I would like support so that my wife can have a break from her caring role and I can maintain my independence within the home. HOURS OF WORK As I need support over 7 days a week, so please specify which days would suit you: Mon-Sun 8.30am (45mins per day)- double handed Mon-Sun 9.30pm (30 mins per day) Tuesday 9am (5 hours) Friday 10am ish (4 hours) RATES OF PAY £10.90 per hour TASKS INVOLVED Helping me to get up and out of bed Assisting me to get washed and dressed Ensuring my personal hygiene is taken care of as I can sometimes neglect this Brush my teeth, hair etc. Change my pad, check for pressure areas Assist me to get back in to bed, put pyjamas on etc. Encouraging me to wash myself and perform tasks independently but with support Keeping me company whilst my wife is out TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Must like dogs Car driver/owner would be beneficial due to location Non smoker Someone who is quite easy going Experience in care and manual handling ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly and appropriate holiday pay given. The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority). The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK.
