Part-time Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I’m a woman in my late 70’s living in Cwmdare. I’m independent however two years ago my vision began to decline and this has affected my mental health. It has been a big learning curve for me and I am determined to live an active life.

I’m actively re-engaging with community groups where I find a great sense of achievement. They are volunteer groups for visual and hearing impaired people. Having a PA will make it easier to access these groups.

I walk with the assistance of elbow crutches.

I am a fair person, caring and fun and always willing to learn.

PLACE OF WORK

In my home in Cwmdare.

HOURS OF WORK

9 hours per week, Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays shifts of 3 hours each. Days and shifts can change, so please be flexible to accommodate change.

RATE OF PAY

£10.00 per hour

TASKS INVOLVED

  • Taking me to and from my weekly and monthly volunteer groups
  • Supporting me to access local activities
  • Being my eyes when we are out, guiding me safely – very important

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

  • Someone who has an understanding of my impairment and is friendly and patient
  • Naturally caring with a good sense of humour
  • Car owner and driver
  • Good communication and attitude towards this type of work 
  • Very important that you are dependable and reliable
  • Someone who I can confidently and easily build rapport with
  • Works on initiative

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. I will be your legal employer. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
