Apply now JOB DESCRIPTION Part-Time Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am a 60 year old man who has Gillian Barre syndrome (GBS) who lives in Mountain Ash. I am in a wheelchair and rely on my wife to do things for me. I am sociable, chatty and have a sense of humour. My interests are my computer, films and music. PURPOSE OF THE JOB You will provide respite for my wife who is my main carer. You will support me inside the home to give her a short break. HOURS OF WORK 4 hours per week in day for errands & shopping. Occasional evening for a home sit. Flexibility is essential should days need to change. RATES OF PAY £12.00 per hour 40p mileage when you use your car TASKS WILL INCLUDE Engaging me in conversation. Assistance required with urine bottle and disposing of waste as I have no hand grip. Making a cup of tea and snack. Assisting opening things eg crisps & other food items. Opening DVD’s, help with tv remote. Watching a film. Ensuring my safety and well-being at all times. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Previous experience in personal care is desirable. Reliable and flexible with working hours. A caring and supportive nature is important. Understanding that days and times could change with short notice. A car owner/driver who is willing to use car for work purposes/take me on outings ABOUT THE JOB Although this is a part-time job, it will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The salary will be paid on a monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay given (5.6 weeks pro rata). The post is subject to a probationary period and a DBS (Police) Check at no cost to you. You will have to supply 2 references, one of which should be able to comment on your work practices.
