JOB DESCRIPTION

Part-time PA required FOR MATERNITY COVER

SOMETHING ABOUT ME                         

A young lady of 41 living in Tonyrefail is looking for a PA for 12 hours per week to cover maternity leave September 2021 to June 2022.

I have mild/moderate learning disabilities. I’m chatty, lively and happy but I do have occasions when I’m down, especially when routines and activities are changed or cancelled. 

I enjoy activities like pop art, wood burning, swimming, disability bike riding, Zumba, cinema and walking. It would be nice to have a PA with similar interests.

PLACE OF WORK

Going out and about in the community.

You’ll usually pick me up from Tonyrefail but occasionally Pontyclun.    

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The purpose of the job is to help me to maintain my independence and to be involved in community activities. You should be willing to use your own car to take me about (mileage paid).

HOURS OF WORK

8 - 10 hours available for each PA

Tues 9.30- 12.30 for pop art during term-time

Remaining hours worked over a couple of other days in the week during school hours 9:30-15:00.

We can be slightly flexible with hours. 

No weekend work

Potential for more hours covering if the other PA is on annual leave/Sick.

RATE OF PAY

£10.00 per hour  

Mileage 40p per mile when I am in the car with you.      

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

  • Supporting me when I go out
  • Motivating me and encouraging me to do new things
  • Using your car to take me out (mileage paid)
  • Ensuring I am safe
  • Swimming, on occasion
  • Covering the duties of my other PAs when they’re on leave. This will include a more social aspect to the job.
  • Using public transport to get around, or walking to nearby places
  • Covering extra shifts when my other PAs are off

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

  • Driver and car owner (essential) for when public transport is not an option
  • Sense of humour and young at heart is essential
  • Someone who is fun, pleasant and good company
  • Dependable and arrives on time
  • Flexible
  • Ideally you’ll have the same or similar interests
  • Friendly and easy-going
  • Positive approach to disabled people
  • Able to work on own initiative

ABOUT THE JOB

The above post is subject to an enhanced police (DBS) check and suitable references.

This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid two-weekly. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. Training may be required if identified by the employer.
