 Personal Assistant

(September start)

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am an active 34-year-old lady with a visual impairment.

My parents live in Gilfach Goch and I visit regularly on a weekend, nearly always on a weekend when I go to church.

I enjoy keeping fit by swimming, walking my guide dog, visiting the Gym and ice-skating. I also enjoy visits to the cinema and theatre.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

I am looking to employ at least one support assistant to provide me with support at home and when I go out socially. This will help me live as independently as possible in my own home.

HOURS OF WORK

There are 10 hours a week available from September onwards.

There will be some flexibility but the hours will be mainly worked Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and possibly a couple of hours on a Saturday.  

Please note on the application forms the days and times you would be available to work.

RATES OF PAY

£9.90 per hour

Plus 40p per mile will be paid for each journey we make together.

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

  • Assisting me at home with domestic task such as laundry, general cleaning.
  • Assistance with food preparation.
  • Cleaning up the garden after my dog.
  • Supporting me when I take my dog for a walk.
  • Supporting me when out shopping for food, clothes etc.
  • Supporting me at the gym, ice skating or swimming.
  • Making sure I am safe at all times.
  • Taking and collecting me from my parents at Gilfach Goch and when I attend Church.
  • Accompanying me to appointments.
  • Helping with paperwork.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

  • Someone who is punctual, dependable, trustworthy and flexible.
  • A cheerful person with a positive and bright outlook.
  • Must like dogs.
  • A car owner who is insured for business usage and would be willing to use for work and transporting my guide dog (mileage will be paid).
  • Preferable someone who would participate in my activities.
  • Although not essential a knowledge of visual impairment would be helpful.
  • Someone willing to attend training courses that would be beneficial to the post.

ABOUT THE JOB

Although this is a part-time job, it will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The salary will be paid on a four weekly basis and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to a probationary period and a DBS (Police) Check.
