JOB DESCRIPTION

Part-Time Personal Assistant

 PERSONAL INFORMATION:

I am man in my fifties living in the Aberdare area.  I have had a brain injury, and this means that I am often forgetful, lack concentration, have poor motivation and changeable moods.

I am friendly and seeking a buddy to support me in the community.  I am looking for someone to support and encourage me to go out and about, attend the gym, go fishing, walk the dogs and go to the local town and motivate me to improve and maintain my fitness and health.

PURPOSE OF JOB:

To reduce my isolation, give me support and encouragement to give me the confidence to engage in activities to do a range of tasks.

PLACE OF WORK:

In my home and out in the community

HOURS OF WORK:

16 hours per week to be worked on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

RATE OF PAY:

£10.70

Mileage will also be paid for journeys we make together.

 

TASKS CAN INCLUDE:

  • Supporting me to my local supermarket and helping me select an appropriate food shop
  • Supporting me to get out of the house and doing any social activity
  • Supporting me to make appointments
  • Taking me for a drive somewhere of interest to me
  • Encouraging me with my hobbies
  • Motivating me to maintain my fitness and health


PERSON REQUIRED:

  • A person who is dependable and arrives on time.
  • Someone with experience or working in this type of work
  • Someone who is encouraging with a positive approach to this kind of work.
  • Someone with an understanding of my mental health issues and how they can affect me.
  • A person who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’ home.
  • Someone friendly and chatty.
  • Someone with a car and a UK driving licence.
  • Due to the fluctuating nature of my disabilities, I will require someone who is flexible with when they can work.

ABOUT THE JOB:

Although this is a part-time job, it will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The salary will be paid via Brain Injury Wales who will calculate your wages. Appropriate holiday pay will be given.

 

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check. The cost of this will be met by the employer.
