Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT US

I’m a young man of 19 living with my family in Abercynon. I have Autism which effects my social ability, communication and general understanding of the world around me. I want to learn to be more independent and improve my confidence out in the community. I enjoy outdoor activities, playing lego and watching things on T.V such as CSI and Avengers. I’m very helpful around the house and very caring towards others. I want to attend college and hope to become a fire fighter, police officer or a security guard, like my dad.

PURPOSE OF JOB

My mum would like to employ a Personal Assistant to take me out. You will be responsible for my needs and ensuring my wellbeing at all times. You will work with me to achieve my aims.

PLACE OF WORK

Usually out in the local community.

HOURS OF WORK

4 hours per week

These are flexible hours to be arranged on a weekly basis.

RATE OF PAY

£9.50 per hour

Travel expenses will also be refunded.

TASKS INVOLVED

  • Taking me out in the community to places of my choosing. Examples of activities might be Bowling, Cinema, Food Out and Shopping.
  • Assistance to access and use public transport, helping me understand and learn bus timetables
  • Ensuring personal safety and wellbeing at all times
  • Assistance to manage money and make own purchases when out
  • Engaging and participating with me in the activities I enjoy
  • Supporting me to develop confidence

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.  You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You may be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
